The talented and determined athletes of VBVBA (Virginia Beach Volleyball Academy) battled through 3 intense days of competition this past weekend in Richmond. It was great to have the opportunity to get to see these girls compete and be a part of and surrounded by so many passionate athletes. To all the girls, it has been an absolute honor working with you and from all your trainers at HTC, we are so proud to see the results of your hard work in action...your heart driven efforts in practice & the gym shined on the courts this weekend. See you in the gym girls.. back to work...

CrossFit is about fitness and community, and Gillian Mounsey proved that on Nov. 14 at CrossFit Long Island City.
Performing 100 muscle-ups as part of her Operation Pull for Hope, Mounsey managed to raise over $53,000 for Hope for the Warriors. Those funds will be used by the charity to help servicepeople and their families who have been challenged by injuries or deaths in the line of duty.
Gillian.. it was an absolute honor to be a part of such an amazing and life changing event, you have used your incredible talents to raise money for an organization that needs our help and you did so with unbelievable success. Gillian, you are a true inspiration and you have proved that one person can & did make a difference. This is what CrossFit is all about.. a community of people that fight for everything they want to accomplish and believe in, and the support is unreal. Thanks Gillian & Mac & Tucker and all who attended.. its a weekend I will never forget!Saturday, December 19, 2009
In the so-called-experts eyes, Antwain didn’t stand a chance against Scott “Lights Out” Lighty.Being the home town boy, a former K1 kickboxer, and Chuck Liddel’s sparring partner, gave Lighty a huge advantage over the up and coming Antwain Britt. According to the experts, Lighty should have ran thru the Virginia based Antwain Britt with little problem.
I guess “The Juggernaut” didn’t get the memo.
In his most spectacular fight to date, Antwain swarmed on the ill prepared Lighty, catching him early with a right hand that set the beginning to the end. The game plan going into the fight, devised by Coach Buck Grant, was to put pressure on the K1 veteran, closing the distance to shut down Lighty’s kicks using Britt’s revamped footwork, and utilize his blazing hand speed to either knock him out or earn a takedown.
The plan was executed flawlessly by the always composed “Juggernaut” as he dropped Lighty several times against the cage, then rode his hips on the ground while administering his superb ground and pound skills.
When brought back to the feet, Britt proceeded to block every desperate attempt of Lighty’s to stop the fight via head kick, a technique which Lighty has used in the past to stop earlier opponents. Britt quickly made Lighty pay with his quick hands and footwork over and over again for the entire first round.
Lighty was unable to answer the bell and the referee is forced to stop the fight in between rounds.
The official striking stats were an astounding 92 strikes for Antwain, compared to 5 strikes for Lighty. Statistically a blowout. Physically a dominating performance.
Team Hybrid would like to thank Antwain’s main sponsor, Untamed Industries, as well as his manager Pat Militech and the entire Team Hybrid rooster for rallying behind “The Juggernaut.”
This is a huge accomplishment for Team Hybrid and Antwain Britt. He not only won, he made a statement. Congratulation Antwain. Way to close out the fight season for Team Hybrid.

Many in the CrossFit community were affected by the tragic shootings at Fort Hood, but none as directly as one of our affiliates, Lumberjack Crossfit . Four members of that affiliate were killed.
CrossFit is launching a hero WOD fundraiser for our four fallen Soldiers. On December 5th, we are asking affiliates and individuals to do two things: participate in the workout (as a display of solidarity with Lumberjack CrossFit) and to reach out to family, friends, and strangers to donate whatever you can.
With the help of the CrossFit community, we can assist the men and women at Ft. Hood and Lumberjack CrossFit to raise money for the families of the fallen, and the future needs of the approximately 30 wounded.
The long-term needs of these families and the wounded are significant; many of the wounded are still in intensive care. Most will not fully recover from being shot multiple times at near point blank range with a .357.
Our community clearly has the ability and commitment to make a difference for these folks. Let’s turn out on the 5th and show our support!
Here's the workout...
